PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the Day Room outreach for those needing assistance during daytime hours.
- Meet regularly with the Homeless Services Supervisor to discuss:
- Case plans, guidelines, guest reviews, guest requests for extensions, etc.
- Corrective actions for guest guideline violations.
- Incentives for progress and cooperation of guests.
- Policy and procedure revisions and update.
- Meet with Guest Advocate and new guests after Intake Interview to determine the issues needing to be addressed.
- Meet with guests in matters of serious guideline violations and/or possible dismissal and report incident to Women’s Program Supervisor.
- Function in a role of crisis interventionist, assessing and doing brief counseling.
- Respond to complaints, requests and reports.
- Assess critical areas of concern (i.e., any symptoms of drug and/or alcohol withdrawal, emotional stability, suicide, lethality, endangerment of others or property, etc.).
- Facilitate Life Skill classes as needed.
- Track and report continuum of care progress of Crisis guests and consult with Women’s Program Supervisor.
OFFICE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read staff log and guest files and record significant happenings; communicate to staff, etc. in daily log and guest files.
- Record minutes from staff/guest meetings; make copies for file and keep meeting notebooks current.
- Perform secretarial duties and serve as receptionist by answering the phones and door.
- Distribute mail to staff and guests. Return or forward mail for previous guests.
- Keep guest and staff bulletin boards current.
- Replenish all forms in office (absent reports, accident/injury, change in regular schedule, etc.).
- Keep inventory and distribute office and cleaning supplies, books, Bibles and videos to staff and guests.
- Keep bed charts current.
- Keep volunteer contact list and hours updated.
- Assist with Intake as needed.
- Perform random drug screens as requested.
HOUSEKEEPING & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the morning clean-up of the Crisis area, sleeping quarters etc. Assign guests to specific chores, document their service and follow-up. Report shortcomings to the Guest Advocate.
- Notify appropriate local emergency personnel (medical, mental health, law enforcement, Fire Department, etc.) when needed: calling Program Supervisor as indicated in program call procedures.
- Note any hazards or potentially hazardous situation and either correct that situation or refer the issue to the Supervisor for follow-up.
- Check belongings of guests and remove any unapproved items.
- Assign household chores, rotate and post new assignments on guest’s information board.
- Attend any required meetings or trainings as scheduled.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out any requests of the Women’s Program Supervisor.
- Network with area service providers and agencies.
- Function in a role of Crisis interventionist by assessing and providing direction.
- Develop Day Room activities and monitor behaviors.
- Monitor building maintenance needs and repairs and complete requisitions.
- Monitor the delivery, service and cleanup of guests and community breakfast and lunch meals.
- Assist in obtaining emergency clothing.
- Enforce program principles and procedures in a spirit of compassion and respect.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL FACTORS
- Continuous sitting and hand movement such as writing and computer work.
- Occasional bending, stooping and lifting.
- Frequent standing, reaching, twisting and walking.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take every opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
- Provide spiritual encouragement to staff, volunteers, guests, and residents.
- Invest in the spiritual development of staff, guests, residents, and donors.
- Pray for and with staff, volunteers, guests, residents, and donors.
- Ensure actions and policies reflect the Christian values and purpose of the Mission.
- Handle relational conflicts according to the Staff Covenant of Romans 12:18 and Matthew 18:15-19
- Memorize monthly Scripture, Mission Statement, and Mission Core Values.
- Participate in corporate prayer and Scripture reading, staff chapel services, and all spiritual gatherings.
- Support and attend annual mandatory Evangelism In Service training to grow in knowledge of leading others to faith in Christ. Participate in annual spiritual growth training through organization selected curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A four-year degree in Human Service related field or the equivalent work experience preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
- Work positively and harmoniously with entire Mission ministry staff.
- Display respect, gentleness, and accountability when interacting with the Crisis Program guests.
- Must be teachable and function as a team player.
- Engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities. Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all of our staff, volunteers, and Mission guests.
- Have the ability to multitask. Minimum of one year computer and office experience. Ability to work in Word, Access, and Excel.
- Housekeeping experience helpful.
- Must have strong leadership qualities and demonstrate character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility, etc.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- J03 license required within 90 days of hire.
