Job Summary:
- Prepares tissues and other specimens in histology and as designated under the supervision of the pathologist. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of techniques, principals and instruments and their inter-relationships as well as the physiological conditions affecting test results.

Education:
- Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or similar degree or 1 – 6 months' equivalent combination of education and histology and/or lab experience.

Registration/Certification/Licensure:
- ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent, preferred.

Experience:
- Position requires 0-6 months' related experience in conjunction with a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or similar degree or 1-6 months' experience if no Bachelor's Degree.

Other Requirements:
- Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize concurrent projects, meet deadlines, follow through with deliverables, and produce quality work.
- Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with internal and external customers and in promoting a positive work atmosphere.
- Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements.
