Summary:
Sterile Processing Technicians provide service to Surgery and other departments by decontaminating, packaging and sterilizing instruments, linens, and supplies. The technician also assembles surgeon specific case carts and manage supply par levels in Surgery, Endo, and Cysto.

Certification and Licensures Requirements:
Certification in Hospital Sterile Processing or Level 1 Surgical Tech preferred.

Summary:
Sterile Processing Technicians provide service to Surgery and other departments by decontaminating, packaging and sterilizing instruments, linens, and supplies. The technician also assembles surgeon specific case carts and manage supply par levels in Surgery, Endo, and Cysto.
Department Specific Competencies:
- Cleans, sort package and sterilize equipment, instruments and trays for Surgery, other deparments and MRHC off-site facilities.
- Keeps written records.
- Wears hospital approved attire in decontamination, packaging, and sterilizing areas.
- Works on call hours as scheduled.
- Proficient in the use of the following equipment and materials: sterilization tryas, ultrasonic washer, steam autoclave and heat sealer, sterrad 100 nx sterilizer, ten key calculator, meditech material management information system, meditech surgery modulel, and personal computer.
Duties:
- Follows sterile processing techniques as written in the sterile processing department manual.
- Replenish supplies in surgery, cysto, endo.
- Assemble surgical case carts according to written surgeon preference cards.
- Manage surgical instrument maintenance and replacement.
- Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and cleaning of all equipment and machinery delivered to decontamination.
- Responsible for sterilizer operation and effectiveness monitoring and retaining records according to MRHC policy.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Certification and Licensures Requirements:
Certification in Hospital Sterile Processing or Level 1 Surgical Tech preferred.
Experience:
1 year Healthcare/Medical - Surgical Services required
