About This Position
Job Summary:
Assesses patients to determine eligibility for metabolic measurement procedure. Performs, monitors, and evaluates metabolic measurement procedures as ordered by the physician for general, acute care and/or out[1]patients. Compiles metabolic study data summary report, documents results in patients’ electronic health record and forwards report to Nutrition Services Coordinator and/ or Registered Dietitian for interpretation. Disassembles, cleans, disinfects, sterilizes, and assembles all types of respiratory & metabolic equipment. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition. Completes weekly and monthly activity and quality management reports. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Performs specific tasks as designated by Nutrition Services Coordinator with the ability to complete most tasks independently. Completes accurate and timely documentation of patient care in EMR. Assists with surveys or other special requests as needed.

· Demonstrates ability to operate and maintain a metabolic cart.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program required.
Work Experience:
Respiratory Therapy experience performing indirect calorimetry and other metabolic studies preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
· Licensed with MS Department of Health (MSRT)
· Registered by NBRC
Mental Demands:
Knowledge of all types of metabolic measurement and respiratory therapy equipment operation, application, and clinical application, contra-indication, adverse response, benefits of therapy, and of the procedures. Ability to work with critically ill or special needs patients. Understands that errors may have serious consequences to patients. Demonstrates initiative, dependability, and "sincere interest" in being a capable, cooperative, and understanding health care member. Attends and performs continuing education programs.
