General Job Description

The EHS Manager will support the Environmental, Health, and Safety department and maintain a safe and compliant facility.

Every associate at Hanwha has an obligation to contribute equally to hold others accountable and improve processes and systems. This will eventually ensure superior quality of products and services. Total Quality management is a joint effort of management and associates to exceed customer satisfaction levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, review, and implementation of EHS programs.
  • Maintains EHS record-keeping systems.
  • Responds to environmental incidents and assist with all abatement efforts through completion.
  • Provides resources and information to production.
  • Lead investigations of workplace accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead the developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS training programs.
  • Review all written programs to ensure they are updated when personnel or physical changes affect those programs. All employees are trained for these changes, and annual training is given to affected employees.
  • Conduct employee safety training programs on topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, PPE usage, and environmental impact.
  • Prepares government-mandated reports and ensures they are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective actions to minimize risks.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste activities, including storage containers, weekly hazardous waste container inspections, disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with all local, State, and Federal rules and regulations, hazardous waste handling, training, and record retention.
  • Maintain constant awareness of changing regulations, ensuring the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety policies are aligned with current laws and industry standards.

Managerial Responsibility

This position has managerial responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. Participation in events (trials, DOE, etc.) on the production floor is required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.

Monday-Friday, core work hours 1st shift

Flexible hours to be available.

Must be available to work weekends when requested by Supervisor.

Travel

Travel is minimal and primarily local. Occasional out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience relevant to manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred.
  • A relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred.
  • Extensive plant-level experience with significant proven man-management experience.
  • Technical capability and understanding.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership and maintenance management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision-making.
  • Commercially aware.

Preferred/Desired:

  • Need to be able to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuously improving environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • The ability to work with components that are in constant motion along a production line without adverse effects.
  • The ability to work on a team of co-workers in close proximity to each other.
  • The ability to make timely decisions and provide feedback to each other.
  • Have a strong desire for personal and professional development.
