Description:

Join Our Mission to Empower the Next Generation!

Are you passionate about helping young people thrive? Do you believe in the power of education and prevention to shape a brighter future? If so, we want YOU on our team!

At the Center for Family Life and Recovery (CFLR), we don’t just talk about change — we make it happen. As a Prevention Specialist, you’ll be on the frontlines of a movement to promote mental wellness, build resilience, and prevent substance misuse in schools and communities across the Mohawk Valley.

This role is an amazing opportunity to inspire students, engage families, collaborate with educators, and represent an organization that leads with heart and purpose.

What You'll Do (and Love Doing!)

? Deliver engaging, evidence-based programs to K–12 students — think interactive lessons, empowering workshops, school-wide assemblies, and meaningful conversations.
? Build strong, trusted relationships with school leaders, teachers, families, and students.
? Be a visible and vocal advocate for prevention by attending community events, coalitions, and local partnerships.
? Help design, support, and report on strategic initiatives that create long-lasting impact.
? Represent CFLR as a community leader in promoting mental health, youth voice, and recovery-friendly values.
? Share stories, create content, and promote prevention through social media, newsletters, and outreach campaigns.
? Offer a listening ear and connect students and families to resources when they need extra support.

Requirements: What You Bring to the Table
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s in education, psychology, social work, or related field preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in youth programming, education, outreach, or prevention
  • Experience in public speaking, classroom engagement, or group facilitation
  • Comfort traveling up to 40 miles from Utica, NY
  • A valid NYS driver’s license
  • A heart for service, a head for strategy, and the courage to lead

If you believe that prevention is power and you’re ready to create lasting change — apply now and help us build a healthier, safer, and more connected community for our youth.
