POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Design Integration role is responsible for successful delivery of McCarthy projects by organizing the design participants, processes, and technology. Participants may include design teams and trade partners when projects use design-build, design-assist, or other alternate delivery methods. This position requires proactive management of the design process with all parties, including internal McCarthy partners, to ensure coordinated documents support project goals for safety, quality, cost, scope, schedule, and execution. The Manager has overall responsibility for the design process, integration of team members, and design deliverables on assigned projects, while assisting other team leaders on large or mega Design-Build projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Team and Deliverable Management:
- Interface with Project teams to develop and monitor expectations for schedule, quality and content of design document delivery, ensuring critical elements are incorporated.
- Identify decision-makers and critical decision points. Obtain client direction and provide internal direction as necessary to facilitate the project goals.
- Coordinate design document packaging strategies, manage design review processes, and ensure design document control and collaboration, using 2D/3D cloud-based collaboration platforms.
- Work with VDC Manager to develop and implement project-specific BIM execution plans.
- Coordinate with various owner stakeholders and vendors (such as equipment) to ensure requirements are incorporated into design documents.
- Be knowledgeable of applicable building codes and regulations to assist in code compliance reviews during design delivery. (On larger projects, this could also include the procurement and management of a third-party code consultant peer reviewer.)
Assembling Teams and Contracting:
- Assist in the preparation of key RFPs, including the Lead Design Partner, Design Sub-Consultants, Design-Assist and/or Design-Build Trade Partners, defining the Scope of Work.
- Coordinate design services between firms to eliminate gaps in scope/services.
- Coordinate Design-Build/Design-Assist contracts, fees, and scope with key team members.
- Assist and/or lead the creation and execution of collaborative team structures.
Business Development Support:
- Assist/coordinate proposal submissions with Business Unit Leaders and our marketing team.
- Assist the Sr. Manager and/or Director on design-build pursuits to identify the appropriate level of design for pursuit pricing. Ensure design solutions are consistent with agreed upon win strategy. Collaborate with the Preconstruction Director and the selected Design Partner.
Preconstruction/Estimating Support:
- Facilitate communication of cost management needs between the designer, Design-Build, and Design-Assist trade partners, and estimating teams during all phases.
- While working with the Preconstruction Director, implement Target Value Design strategies and identify major design changes for discussion and tracking via a Trend Log.
- Monitor design scopes and budgets between milestone estimate updates to report and determine corrective course(s) of action required to maintain or lower the overall budget.
- Assist in development of Value Analysis planning and execution of cost management approach with the owner and design team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 7+ years of experience leading, managing, and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing the design phase of complex construction projects.
- Strong facilitation and collaboration skills, with the ability to bring diverse stakeholders together to drive alignment and decisions.
- Proven ability to lead and influence design teams toward positive project outcomes, including alignment of scope, budget, schedule, quality, and constructability.
Preferred:
- Experience with collaborative project delivery methods, such as Design-Build, CMAR, or IPD.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license and/or hands-on experience spanning both design and construction.
- Proficiency with relevant project collaboration and design management platforms, including Microsoft Office, Procore, Revizto, Mural, JOIN, Smartsheet, and Bluebeam.
