Senior IT Procurement Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior IT Procurement Specialist based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to help shape and advance a maturing IT procurement function within a purpose-driven organization.
You will lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities across technology hardware, software, and services.
Working closely with IT, Legal, Finance, suppliers, and business stakeholders, you will balance cost, value, risk, and speed.
Your expertise will contribute directly to stronger commercial outcomes, optimized contracts, and improved supplier performance.
You will also help modernize procurement processes through standardization, automation, market intelligence, and emerging AI-enabled tools.

Accountabilities
  • Manage the procurement and renewal lifecycle for IT hardware, software, and services, ensuring activities align with business priorities, established processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, monitor vendor performance, support negotiations, and identify opportunities to improve value, quality, innovation, and risk management.
  • Analyze technology spend and identify cost-optimization opportunities through contract optimization, standardization, consolidation, demand management, and improved sourcing strategies.
  • Partner with IT, Legal, Finance, and business stakeholders to provide procurement guidance and ensure effective execution throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Lead and coordinate complex procurement activities while managing multiple priorities, timelines, stakeholders, and commercial requirements.
  • Improve procurement processes, tools, documentation, templates, playbooks, and training materials by identifying opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate workflows.
  • Monitor technology markets, supplier trends, emerging technologies, and AI-enabled procurement tools to strengthen decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement policies, methodologies, and operating-model improvements.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, organizational, and contractual requirements.
  • Contribute to change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen the overall procurement capability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in IT procurement and supplier management, with demonstrated experience handling complex technology procurements.
  • Procurement or supply chain certification such as PMAC, SCMP, ISM, or CTPE is considered an asset.
  • Strong commercial judgment, negotiation capabilities, communication skills, and stakeholder management experience.
  • Solid expertise in spend analysis, demand management, strategic sourcing, procurement methodologies, and supplier management.
  • Good knowledge of IT products, services, technology markets, procurement software, and related tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex initiatives and competing priorities while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong customer-service and relationship-management mindset, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Experience developing procurement policies, playbooks, training materials, or other operational documentation is an asset.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities, lead change, and improve procurement processes and operating models.
  • Strong written and spoken English is required; French proficiency is considered an asset.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B), including fingerprinting, criminal record and credit checks. Candidates must have resided in Canada for at least five years and hold Canadian permanent resident or citizenship status.
