You’ll work closely with Compliance, Underwriting, Risk, Operations, and Legal teams to make informed onboarding decisions.
Your research and judgment will help balance strong risk controls with a fast, seamless merchant experience.
You’ll also contribute to improving KYB workflows and scalable compliance processes as the business grows.
This is an ideal opportunity for an investigative, detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving complex problems in fintech and payments.

Accountabilities
  • Conduct end-to-end KYB reviews for prospective merchants, verifying onboarding documentation, business information, ownership structures, and corporate records.
  • Validate business registration documents, Articles of Incorporation, EIN and Tax ID documentation, proof of address, and other relevant materials.
  • Identify and verify Ultimate Beneficial Owners and conduct sanctions, OFAC, EU and UN watchlist, and Politically Exposed Person screenings.
  • Perform adverse media, reputational, and open-source investigations into businesses, founders, and key personnel using public records, corporate registries, third-party intelligence, and other reliable sources.
  • Review customer sentiment and public discussions across platforms such as Trustpilot, BBB, Reddit, Discord, and X to identify additional operational or reputational risks.
  • Assess merchant business models for payment facilitation, nested merchants, undisclosed third-party fund movement, prohibited activities, and other risk indicators.
  • Analyze chargeback history, previous processor relationships, fraud indicators, and applicable card-network monitoring programs.
  • Cross-reference findings against G2 Risk Solutions and other third-party intelligence platforms, investigating discrepancies and documenting conclusions.
  • Prepare detailed case documentation and escalate complex or high-risk cases to Compliance, Underwriting, or Legal teams.
  • Produce and maintain monthly merchant reporting for external payment partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve KYB workflows, documentation standards, case management, and operational processes as the organization scales.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in KYB, KYC, AML, merchant onboarding, payments compliance, fraud investigations, financial crime, or a closely related field.
  • Experience within fintech, payment processing, PSP, Merchant of Record, acquiring, banking, or another regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of business verification, UBO validation, sanctions screening, adverse media investigations, and enhanced due diligence.
  • Excellent investigative and research capabilities, including experience working with corporate registries, public records, open-source intelligence, and third-party data sources.
  • Ability to analyze corporate filings, legal documents, bank statements, business websites, and financial records while identifying inconsistencies and risk signals.
  • Strong understanding of merchant risk, payment flows, digital commerce, and common fraud typologies across card payments.
  • Sound judgment when working with incomplete information, including the ability to assess uncertainty and escalate complex findings appropriately.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong written documentation skills, and disciplined case management practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly present investigative findings and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with higher-risk merchant categories such as gaming, sweepstakes, digital goods, subscriptions, marketplaces, or similar industries is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with Visa and Mastercard merchant onboarding requirements, MCC classifications, and chargeback monitoring programs is preferred.
  • Experience with KYB platforms such as Persona and risk intelligence tools such as G2 Risk Solutions is a plus.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth fintech environment is highly preferred.
  • A curious, proactive, collaborative mindset with a strong interest in continuous learning and process improvement.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary and equity package.
  • 21 days of paid time off.
  • Flexible benefits, including an annual medical allowance.
  • Productivity allowance to support an effective work environment.
  • Gym membership or wellness subsidy.
  • Annual company retreat.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of scalable merchant onboarding, risk, and compliance operations.
  • Exposure to innovative work across fintech, payments, and digital assets.
  • Collaborative, transparent, and fast-paced environment with opportunities to take ownership and improve processes.
  • Opportunity to work on complex challenges within a rapidly growing global payments business.
