Job Description
Precision Door Service (PDS) is seeking a forward-thinking Learning & Development Field Trainer to assist in building and execution of training programs for our field teams. This is a newly created role with a clear mission: onboard and train new and existing field teams to reduce ramp time, increase productivity outcomes and deliver a world-class experience to new team members.
What you will do:
- Support development of training strategy and execution to ensure an impactful delivery in field.
- Deliver a full-scale training program for field technicians, installers and salespeople.
- Partner with operations leadership, HR, field trainers and other counterparts to adopt best practices and tailor programs to our workforce.
- Execute engaging trainings and content including manuals, e-learning, hands-on workshops, videos, and assessments.
- Recommends and implements appropriate learning delivery modalities (e.g., classroom- virtual/ in-person, on demand, blended learning, etc.) to both facilitate and measure these approaches.
- Facilitates instructor-led trainings and train-the-trainer sessions.
- Coordinate the new employee experience by executing a consistent onboarding experience in each location.
- Manage and track training progress and metrics such as effectiveness, technician readiness, and productivity outcomes.
- Continuously refine programs based on feedback, performance data, and evolving business needs.
- Stay current on learning trends, instructional design methods, and industry-specific certifications or compliance requirements.
What you should bring:
- 3+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development and/or Training within a field service or skilled trades industry.
- Proven success designing and implementing training programs that improved performance or reduced time to competency.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and blended learning methods.
- Comfort with training technology (LMS platforms, video tools, mobile learning apps).
- Ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable program improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to travel across West Coast up to 50% of the time
Everyone you work with should describe you as:
- Initiative Taker – Empowers themselves, brings solutions, has a bias for action and is highly accountable
- Collaborative – Works well with others, solicits feedback, and has a positive upbeat personality who focuses on opportunities rather than obstacles
- Analytical – Uses the right data to help inform and make decisions; applies critical thinking both strategically and tactically; is a wiz with Excel.
- Gets Dirty – The ability to be comfortable with a high-volume workload, ambiguity, changing priorities and not be afraid to "roll up your sleeves"
- Effective Communicator - Has exceptional communication skills, both in composing thoughtful written communication and sharing complex information verbally
- Humble – Lacks ego, shares credit and defines success collectively with a curious mind for learning
And you should be motived by:
- Learning how to do something well by doing it, not be reading a manual or going to formal training
- Working in a lean, results-oriented environment, where you’ll be expected to do more, take on more, and achieve more every year
- Having fun in a start-up-y type environment high on transparency, open to new approaches and without a ton of structure
- If you prefer highly defined processes, slower decision-making environments, or incremental change, this role will likely not be a fit
