OUR COMPANY

Iron EagleX (IEX), a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), delivers agile IT and Intelligence solutions. Combining small-team flexibility with global scale, IEX leverages emerging technologies to provide innovative, user-focused solutions that empower organizations and end users to operate smarter, faster, and more securely in dynamic environments.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Iron EagleX is seeking a SME Cyber Network Analyst to join our fast-paced technical team. In this role, you will analyze, engineer, and troubleshoot complex network environments while supporting the integration and operationalization of advanced cyber capabilities. You will work at the intersection of traditional network engineering, systems administration, cyber analysis, and capability development using your understanding of network architectures, protocols, configurations, and infrastructure to characterize cyber outputs and translate them into actionable operational capabilities.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a SME Cyber Network Analyst, you will use your understanding of network architectures, configurations, protocols, and systems to help teams understand, validate, and operationalize cyber-derived information and capabilities. Your work will include reconstructing and analyzing network environments, investigating complex network behavior, developing repeatable technical workflows, and collaborating with analysts, developers, and engineers to transform technical outputs into mission-relevant capabilities. You will have the opportunity to solve challenging technical problems, work across a diverse range of network and systems technologies, expand your cyber and engineering expertise, and directly support missions where technical accuracy and operational effectiveness matter.

JOB DUTIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Conduct network surveys and technical assessments to identify, document, and characterize network architectures, configurations, systems, services, and communications pathways.

  • Build and maintain representative laboratory environments to reproduce network configurations, validate technical findings, evaluate cyber outputs, and support capability development and testing.

  • Analyze and map complex network environments, including network devices, hosts, services, routing relationships, protocols, access paths, and other infrastructure dependencies.

  • Analyze cyber-derived technical outputs and translate them into understandable network, system, and operational context for use by analysts and engineers.

  • Examine network configurations and communications pathways to identify relationships, dependencies, vulnerabilities, and potential operational access paths.

  • Perform packet, protocol, traffic, and configuration analysis to characterize network behavior and troubleshoot complex connectivity or interoperability issues.

  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and other network infrastructure within operational and laboratory environments.

  • Develop Python scripts and other lightweight automation tools to support network analysis, data processing, environment configuration, monitoring, testing, and recurring administrative workflows.

  • Build, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows systems supporting network analysis and laboratory environments.

  • Deploy and administer virtualized environments using common hypervisor and virtualization technologies.

  • Develop technical documentation, diagrams, network maps, configuration references, and other artifacts that clearly communicate complex network architectures and technical findings.

  • Identify technical limitations, dependencies, and integration requirements associated with transitioning cyber-derived capabilities into operational environments.

  • Collaborate with analysts, software developers, systems engineers, and network engineers to investigate technical problems and develop solutions supporting advanced operational requirements.

  • Apply disciplined configuration management, documentation, and testing practices to ensure technical environments and workflows are repeatable and maintainable.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong practical understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, subnetting, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, and common network protocols.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring, maintaining, upgrading, migrating, and troubleshooting enterprise or operational network infrastructure.

  • Ability to analyze complex network configurations, communications pathways, routing relationships, and system dependencies to understand how traffic and capabilities traverse an environment.

  • Proficiency with Python or a similar scripting/programming language for technical analysis, workflow automation, data manipulation, or tool development.

  • Strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems, including command-line administration, networking utilities, services, permissions, processes, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience administering and troubleshooting Windows systems and understanding their interaction within enterprise network environments.

  • Ability to build, configure, and troubleshoot representative network and systems environments for testing, analysis, validation, or capability development.

  • Demonstrated ability to systematically investigate complex technical problems across networking, operating systems, applications, and infrastructure.

  • Ability to document network architectures, configurations, technical findings, and troubleshooting processes clearly for both technical and operational audiences.

  • CCNA certification or demonstrated equivalent networking knowledge and practical experience.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing virtualized environments using technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.

  • Experience building, deploying, or troubleshooting containerized applications and services using Docker or similar technologies.

  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud-native technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with Git and standard version-control practices for managing scripts, configuration files, automation, and technical documentation.

  • Experience producing network diagrams, architecture documentation, technical procedures, test plans, or engineering documentation for complex environments.

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, Security+, Network+, Linux+, RHCSA/RHCE, or equivalent technical certifications are a plus.
