About the Role

Roadrunner Wrecker Service is hiring a Tire Technician to handle tire service in our shop and on the road, for light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles. You'll respond to roadside calls, change and repair tires on commercial trucks and passenger vehicles, and keep our towing fleet running safely. It's a hands-on job for someone who works well under pressure, puts safety first, and takes pride in getting drivers back on the road.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to roadside tire calls around the clock, including highway shoulders and bad weather

Mount, demount, repair and replace tires on passenger, light-truck and Class 3–8 commercial vehicles, including steer, drive and trailer positions

Inspect tires for tread depth, damage, irregular wear and DOT compliance, and recommend replacements

Do plug-patch and section repairs to industry standards

Torque lug nuts to spec with calibrated tools and re-torque when required

Install and service TPMS sensors, valve stems and wheel hardware

Balance and rotate tires, and check the alignment of the wheel assembly

Service and inspect tires on Valor Fleet's own tow trucks, wreckers and rollbacks

Set up safe work zones with cones, flares and lighting, following DOT and company safety rules

Keep the service truck, tools and tire inventory stocked, clean and in working order

Complete work orders, inspection reports and customer invoices accurately, using a tablet or dispatch software

Communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch, drivers and customers

Help with towing, jump starts, lockouts or fuel delivery when needed (if cross-trained)

Required:

1+ years of tire service experience, commercial or heavy-duty preferred

Knows how to use tire machines, impact guns, torque wrenches, bead breakers and jacks

Understands safe tire inflation practices, including using an inflation cage for split or multi-piece rims

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Can lift up to 100+ lbs, and can kneel, bend and work outdoors in all weather

Can pass a background check, drug screen and DOT physical

TIA certifications (Commercial Tire Service, ATS, or Basic/Advanced Truck Tire Service) preferred.

WreckMaster or TRAA towing certification preferred.

Experience with roadside or mobile service

Own basic hand tools
