Job Description

Description:

This role is responsible for executing the council’s campaign portfolio within an assigned territory. Throughout the year, the Regional Generalist shifts across three primary functions: troop support and volunteer management, girl recruitment and retention, and program delivery including council-led girl and volunteer events as well as the Cookie Program – depending on the council’s current priorities. The Generalist builds and maintains community relationships that make campaigns successful: with troop leaders, service unit volunteers, school administrators, families, and community partners.

This position is accountable for territory-level outcomes: girl-member growth, volunteer retention, troop growth, and program participation. The Regional Generalist is the council’s primary point of contact for families and volunteers in their territory, the quality of those relationships directly determines the council’s ability to deliver on its mission.

Requirements:

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 1-3 years experience in community engagement, youth services, volunteer coordination, education, sales, or a field-based role with direct customer contact

• Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly and apply them in unfamiliar situations - a fast, eager learner who thrives on variety

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with diverse community members including parents, volunteers, school staff, and girls

• Comfort working independently in the field with minimal direct supervision on a day-to-day basis

• Strong organizational skills — able to manage multiple concurrent campaigns, territories, and relationships without dropping threads

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel daily within assigned territory and occasionally across the region

Preferred

• Experience in a Girl Scout council, youth-serving organization, or community-based nonprofit

• Background in education, after-school programming, or outdoor/experiential learning

• Familiarity with membership lifecycle metrics (recruitment, retention, conversion) in a nonprofit or similar context

• Experience executing recruitment or sales campaigns with measurable targets

• Proficiency with technology: able to learn CRM systems (Salesforce), data dashboards (Looker), and digital platforms (Digital Cookie) with training

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) or multilingual skills

Core Competencies

• Quick Learner – Absorbs new information, processes, and skills rapidly. Can move from training to independent execution with minimal ramp time. Asks good questions and seeks out resources proactively.

• Eagerness to Learn – Approaches unfamiliar tasks with curiosity rather than resistance. Volunteers for stretch assignments. Actively seeks feedback and integrates it into practice.

• Adaptability – Transitions smoothly between campaign cycles and shifting priorities without loss of quality or momentum. Comfortable with ambiguity and changing plans.

• Relationship Building – Creates trust quickly with families, volunteers, school partners, and community members. Maintains relationships over time even as campaign focus shifts.

• Execution Discipline – Follows through on campaign plans, completes data entry on time, and meets territory targets. Reliable and consistent in daily field work.

• Team Orientation – Shares effective practices with peers, supports colleagues during high-volume campaign periods, and contributes to a positive team culture.
