The City of Sunnydale is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Manager to oversee the administrative, financial, and operational functions of [Insert Department Name]. The Business Manager will be responsible for managing budgets, developing financial strategies, supervising staff, and ensuring the efficient operation of departmental activities. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills who can effectively manage resources and foster a collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: Oversee the department's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with city policies and regulations.
  • Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations. Identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Staff Supervision: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of administrative and financial professionals. Provide guidance and support to staff to achieve departmental goals.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with city regulations and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with other city departments, community organizations, and external partners to achieve departmental and citywide objectives.
  • Project Management: Manage special projects as assigned by the department head, including project planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with departmental operations and financial activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in business management, financial management, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience in the public sector is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledge of municipal finance, budgeting, and operational management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Certified Public Manager (CPM).
  • Experience working in a municipal or government setting.
  • Familiarity with local government policies, procedures, and regulations.
