Job Description:
About the Role:

Barron's is seeking a versatile and creative Video Journalist to produce short-form vertical video that brings stock, market, and personal finance stories to life across social platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and more.

Part journalist, part storyteller, and part creator-you are comfortable breaking down complex financial topics and producing them in a highly visual format built for scrolling audiences. In this role, you will pitch, shoot, write, edit, and appear on camera while working with reporters to turn headlines and data points into short, smart, and engaging stories that help audiences make sense of the economy and their own portfolios.

You Will:
  • Partner with the newsroom to identify compelling stories, trends, and data points. Translate these insights into engaging short-form vertical videos that spotlight Barron's reporters.
  • Pitch, write, and produce short-form video stories that explain current events in markets and the broader economy.
  • Appear on camera to deliver explainers, voiceovers, and quick-hit market updates.
  • Shoot and edit your own stories from start to finish.
  • Modify and adapt existing long-form content into highly engaging vertical clips.
  • Utilize analytics tools (YouTube Studio, TikTok Insights, Instagram metrics) to understand what resonates with our audience and iterate on future stories.

You Have:
  • 3+ years of experience creating vertical video for social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated success in producing informative and engaging video journalism in a fast-paced environment, with strong hooks and storytelling skills.
  • Experience writing, producing, and editing short-form vertical videos on tight deadlines.
  • Expertise in video and graphics editing using Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
  • Experience in archive producing, including sourcing and utilizing photos, video, graphics, and audio.
  • Deep knowledge of platform-specific trends on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram, with an eagerness to experiment with new forms of mobile visual storytelling.
  • Strong journalistic fundamentals: writing, story ideation, research, fact-checking, interviewing experts, and sifting through data to produce accurate, compelling videos.
  • A solid understanding of business/finance news, markets, and current affairs.

Compensation The base pay range for this role is $95,000 to $110,000 per year.

How to Apply Interested candidates should send a resume, a cover letter detailing your approach to the high-net-worth retirement beat, and no more than three clips to ben.levisohn@barrons.com, bob.rose@barrons.com, and alex.rosenberg@barrons.com, and apply through the link provided.
