Course description: Study of various ecological movements, mobilizations and civil society actors, including think tanks, NGOs, media, and various institutes that are part of current ecological activities promoting sustainability. Specific attention will be given to movements in support of food security, potable water, reforestation, climate justice and animal rights.
Required experience and qualifications:
- A M.A. or Ph.D. in environmental sciences or a discipline of the environmental humanities (e.g. leadership, ecology and equity).
- Research or significant professional experience related to contemporary ecological movements, in both the Global North and Global South, and to key civil society actors involved in sustainability issues.
- Ability to analyze ecological issues such as food security, access to potable water, reforestation, climate justice, and animal protection from the perspective of social mobilizations.
- Active proficiency in French and passive proficiency in the second official language (English).
- Proficiency in community-engaged and/or experiential teaching approaches in adult education.
- Sensitivity to multiple differences (including abilities, genders, and cultures) and to students’ concerns.
- Experience with online learning tools (e.g. Zoom and BrightSpace).
