The Software Engineer I will support the engineering team by resolving technical escalations, developing software improvements, and helping maintain a reliable customer experience. This role combines hands-on coding with troubleshooting, communication, and process improvement responsibilities.
- Own the resolution of technical escalation tickets by investigating, reproducing, diagnosing, and fixing issues reported by customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with support, product, customer success, and engineering stakeholders to gather context, communicate progress, and provide clear resolution updates.
- Identify issues suitable for engineering fixes, write production-quality code, submit pull requests, participate in reviews, and support deployments.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate troubleshooting, analyze potential solutions, and improve coding workflows while applying independent technical judgment.
- Contribute to root-cause analysis efforts and help reduce recurring issues through code improvements, documentation updates, and improved operational processes.
- Follow secure development practices, including appropriate access management, secrets handling, and protection of sensitive customer and user information.
- Work across backend technologies to gain experience with production systems, debugging practices, and scalable software development.
- Maintain ownership of assigned issues and follow them through completion while ensuring high-quality outcomes.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic software engineer with strong problem-solving abilities, a willingness to learn, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. This role is suited for someone beginning their professional engineering journey who wants meaningful production experience.
- 0–2 years of professional software development experience, including internships, co-ops, or significant academic and personal projects.
- Working proficiency in Go, with Python experience considered a plus.
- Familiarity with relational databases and ability to write and understand SQL queries, preferably with PostgreSQL.
- Strong debugging skills with the ability to analyze logs, reproduce issues, and trace problems across systems.
- Understanding of Unix shell scripting and command-line environments.
- Experience or interest in using AI development tools such as Claude or similar solutions, with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
- Ownership mindset with the ability to independently manage tasks and drive issues through resolution.
- Interest in secure software development practices and responsible handling of sensitive data.
- Competitive annual salary range of $65,000 - $75,000 USD.
