Job Description

Steelhaven, a premier luxury high-rise apartment community in downtown Birmingham, is seeking a skilled, dependable, and customer-focused Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is experienced in apartment maintenance, takes pride in delivering quality work, and is committed to providing exceptional service to our residents.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing service requests, performing preventative maintenance, assisting with apartment make-readies, and ensuring the community remains clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Complete resident service requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance, drywall, flooring, and general maintenance issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Assist with apartment turns, inspections, and make-ready projects.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of common areas, amenities, and exterior grounds.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work orders.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and communicate professionally with residents, vendors, and team members.
  • Qualifications

  • EPA Certification (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of apartment maintenance or related maintenance experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and general building maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing stairs, ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
