Senior Systems Administrator, IT Operations – Solid Biosciences
Solid Biosciences is a precision genetic medicine company focused on advancing a portfolio of gene therapy candidates targeting rare neuromuscular and cardiac diseases, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Duchenne), Friedreich’s ataxia (FA), catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), TNNT2-mediated dilated cardiomyopathy, BAG3-mediated dilated cardiomyopathy, and additional fatal, genetic cardiac diseases. The Senior Systems Administrator, IT Operations is a senior technical contributor responsible for the administration, security, modernization, and continuous improvement of the company's core IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, and end-user computing environment. Working closely with the Director of IT Operations & Security, this role combines hands-on systems administration with ownership of key operational platforms and participation in strategic technology initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of assigned technologies, deliver reliable and secure services, improve operational processes, and provide an exceptional support experience across the organization.
This is an on-site position based out of our HQ in Charlestown, MA.
Key Position Responsibilities
IT Operations & Service Delivery
- Partner with the Director of IT Operations & Security to improve operational maturity, standardize processes, modernize IT service delivery and onboard/offboarding automation.
- Participate in the implementation and continuous improvement of IT service management practices including ticketing, knowledge management, documentation, and change management.
- Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.
- Create automation using PowerShell and other tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
Enterprise Applications
- Serve as the primary administrator for enterprise business applications including SharePoint Online, KnowBe4, Smartsheet, Adobe, DocuSign, Zoom, Box, and other business-critical platforms.
- Design and administer SharePoint Online sites, permissions, governance, and information architecture.
- Manage application integrations, identity, licensing, and access while partnering with business stakeholders to improve adoption and usability.
- Evaluate and implement new business applications as organizational needs evolve.
Customer Support
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support while participating in the team's shared responsibility for end-user requests.
- Respond professionally and effectively to technical issues affecting employees throughout the organization.
- Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders through responsiveness, communication, and dependable execution.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other members of the IT team while helping establish scalable operational standards.
Infrastructure & Identity
- Administer and maintain Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related infrastructure.
- Manage endpoint lifecycle and configuration through Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, and endpoint management technologies.
- Maintain server, storage, backup, and disaster recovery platforms to ensure reliability and business continuity.
- Monitor infrastructure health, resolve operational issues, and identify opportunities for continual improvement.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure, endpoint, enterprise application, and operational improvement projects.
- Participate in technology evaluations and implementation planning.
- Recommend improvements that strengthen security, reliability, scalability, and user experience.
- Support compliance initiatives including GxP, SOX, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent professional experience.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible enterprise IT experience.
- Strong administration experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, Microsoft Intune, endpoint management, and PowerShell.
- Experience administering enterprise SaaS platforms and identity integrations.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned systems, and collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
- Experience supporting GxP, SOX, or similar compliance frameworks.
- Experience designing or administering SharePoint Online.
- Experience implementing or administering Jira Service Management and Confluence.
- Experience developing operational automation using PowerShell.
Compensation
The base compensation range for this role is: $140,000.00 - $165,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an internal analysis utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
Regular employees are eligible to receive both short-term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward individual performance and align incentives to Solid’s long term company performance.
