Sioux Falls Lutheran School is looking for kind, dependable, and adaptable Substitute Teachers to support our classrooms when our regular teachers are away. Our substitutes play an important role in keeping students learning, engaged, and cared for—and are incredibly valued by our teachers and school community.

Substitute opportunities may be available across a variety of age and grade levels, from early childhood through 12th grade.

What You'll Do

• Step into the classroom and follow lesson plans provided by the teacher
• Keep students engaged, safe, and on track throughout the school day
• Maintain established classroom routines and expectations
• Provide positive guidance and support to students
• Supervise classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities as assigned
• Communicate important information from the day back to the classroom teacher
• Work alongside teachers, Educational Assistants, and school staff to create a positive experience for students

We're looking for someone who:

• Has a bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or relevant experience
• Enjoys working with children and young people
• Can confidently step into new situations and adapt quickly
• Is patient, dependable, positive, and professional
• Communicates well and works effectively with others
• Supports the Christian mission and values of Sioux Falls Lutheran School

Previous teaching, childcare, coaching, youth programming, or other experience working with children is a plus.

Substitute teaching is an as-needed, flexible opportunity. Substitute Teachers may be contacted when classroom coverage is needed and can accept assignments based on their availability.

Assignments may vary by grade level, classroom, and length depending on school needs.

Being a substitute is more than simply filling in for the day. You provide consistency for students, support for teachers, and an important service to our entire school community.
