Job Description
Position Description: About the Role
DACUT Cannabis is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Machine Operator to join our Processing team at our Flint facility.
This position is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, cleaning, and maintaining production and packaging equipment used throughout our cannabis processing operation. The Machine Operator will play an important role in keeping production moving efficiently while ensuring products meet company standards for quality, consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working around machinery, understands how to follow production specifications, and can identify and troubleshoot basic equipment issues. Previous cannabis experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with experience operating machinery in manufacturing, automotive, food production, pharmaceutical, packaging, or other high-volume production environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, safety-focused, and capable of maintaining productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Machine Operation
- Set up, operate, monitor, and shut down production and packaging machinery according to company SOPs.
- Operate equipment used for cannabis processing, production, filling, packaging, labeling, sealing, and other manufacturing activities.
- Load raw materials, components, packaging, and product into equipment as required.
- Adjust machine settings according to product specifications and production requirements.
- Monitor equipment continuously throughout production runs.
- Ensure machinery is operating safely, efficiently, and consistently.
- Complete equipment changeovers between products, batches, or production runs.
- Follow established startup and shutdown procedures.
Production & Efficiency
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
- Monitor production speed, output, and equipment performance throughout each shift.
- Identify production bottlenecks and communicate concerns to leadership.
- Minimize equipment downtime by quickly identifying and reporting operational issues.
- Maintain an organized flow of materials to and from production equipment.
- Assist with staging raw materials and packaging components for upcoming production runs.
- Support other production areas as business needs require.
Equipment Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Perform basic troubleshooting when equipment is not operating correctly.
- Identify mechanical, electrical, sensor, alignment, feeding, or other equipment issues.
- Make minor machine adjustments when trained and authorized.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Notify leadership or Maintenance of equipment requiring additional repair.
- Assist Maintenance with troubleshooting when appropriate.
- Help identify recurring equipment problems that impact production.
- Maintain equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and company procedures.
Quality Control
- Inspect products throughout production to ensure quality and consistency.
- Verify product weights, counts, fills, seals, labels, packaging, and appearance as applicable.
- Ensure finished products meet established company specifications.
- Identify defective products or packaging and remove them from production.
- Immediately communicate quality concerns to Production leadership.
- Make appropriate machine adjustments when product quality falls outside established specifications.
- Minimize product loss, damage, and unnecessary waste.
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Break down and thoroughly clean production equipment between runs as required.
- Sanitize machine components according to company SOPs.
- Maintain clean and organized production areas.
- Follow established sanitation procedures to prevent contamination.
- Properly store machine components, tools, and cleaning equipment.
- Complete required cleaning and sanitation documentation.
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain accurate production records throughout each shift.
- Record product quantities, weights, production output, waste, downtime, and other required information.
- Verify materials and products before beginning production runs.
- Maintain proper separation and identification of products, batches, and materials.
- Report inventory or production discrepancies immediately.
- Assist with material reconciliation following production runs.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all company SOPs, Michigan cannabis regulations, and applicable processing requirements.
- Follow machine safety procedures at all times.
- Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures when applicable and only when properly trained and authorized.
- Immediately report unsafe equipment, damaged components, workplace hazards, or safety concerns.
- Maintain production areas in an organized and inspection-ready condition.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Production Leads, Processing Technicians, Packaging, Inventory, Quality, Compliance, and Maintenance teams.
- Communicate equipment, production, inventory, and quality concerns promptly.
- Assist with training other employees on equipment operation when requested.
- Support production changeovers and facility projects.
- Assist in other processing and production areas as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Previous experience operating machinery or production equipment in a manufacturing, processing, packaging, warehouse, or similar environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment quickly.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic machine and production issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to follow detailed SOPs, equipment instructions, and production specifications.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume production environment.
- Strong reliability, attendance, and work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and meet all requirements for employment within Michigan's cannabis industry.
Preferred
- Previous cannabis processing or manufacturing experience.
- Experience operating automated production, filling, packaging, labeling, or sealing equipment.
- Experience in food production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or another regulated production environment.
- Experience performing equipment changeovers and preventative maintenance.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical production equipment.
- Familiarity with METRC or cannabis inventory systems.
- Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements: - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).

- Maintain visual acuity to inspect products, read labels, and identify quality concerns.
- Work in varying environmental conditions, including temperature-controlled production areas.
- Safely operate production equipment and follow all safety procedures.
- Ability to remain focused and meet production quotas while adhering to compliance and quality standards.
- Regular and reliable attendance with the ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed.
