Job Description
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing incoming, in-process, and finished-product inspections, conducting laboratory tests, recording quality data, and identifying product defects. Ensures products meet specifications by checking dimensions, strength, packaging, and other quality requirements while supporting daily production and QC activities.
Responsibility
Incoming & In-Process Inspection
• Inspect incoming raw materials — chemicals, incoming sheets, and glue — against specification
• Perform in-process checks, including verifying glue viscosity is within specified range
• Inspect outgoing finished product against customer specification
Laboratory Testing
• Perform tensile testing, elongation testing, and pull strength testing
• Perform water absorption testing and resin content testing (checked against incoming inspection specification)
• Perform basic weight testing, cure checks, burst strength testing, and compression strength testing
• Take material measurements for lab testing using a calculator
• Record lab test results in lab files and chart results to identify trends
• Test finished goods samples every two hours; test UOB samples every Wednesday
• Prepare tensile samples for testing and allow for a one-hour lead time before testing
• Input tensile data into a spreadsheet and report any tensile failures
• Scan results and email lab data to the QC lab
• Input lab data into the QC Lab Testing 1.13 form
Daily Quality Checklist
• Complete a walk-around inspection of production lines
• Turn on the oven and fill the sinks as part of daily setup
• Prep tests and samples, including tensile samples
Production Floor Duties
• Measure depth, width, and height dimensions of product against specification at the back of the line
• Reject parts that are found to be out of tolerance
• Verify parts are packed into the correct boxes and that a feeder sheet is placed between parts
• Rotate between laboratory duties and production floor duties as scheduled
