Pharmacy Tech in Southport, North Carolina at J Arthur Dosher Memorial Hospital

Performs a variety of duties related to authorizations of medications as well as medication gap closures.

Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):

• Schedule appointments, direct walk-in patients and emergencies per established policies and procedures
• Answer all incoming calls and route them to the appropriate staff
• Attend to patient inquiries and requests
• Call patients to help close gaps for medications compliance and refills
• Obtain insurance pre-authorizations for medications as specified by the provider

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Must be eligible for registry with the NC Board of Pharmacy and register within 6 months

Skills:

• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions
• Knowledge of drug names, basic math, medical terminology, basic computer skills
• Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
• Familiarity with regulatory standards
• Ability for rapid mental/muscular coordination simultaneously
• Knowledge of age specific standards, such as: adjusting pediatric dosages based on age/weight, and adjusting geriatric dosage based on age/kidney functions, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist
