SUMMARY
The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Psychiatric is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Psychiatric programs, and staff education in the care of patients in need of psychiatric nursing services at admitted to Lifetime Care. This responsibility includes participation in the screening of applicants, orientation, education, and evaluation of specialty nursing staff, when appropriate. Also, the incumbent will ensure that quality patient care is delivered efficiently, and provides clinical nursing leadership in area of specialty to LTC professional staff.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

- With training provided, must demonstrate the ability to learn and utilize new systems, computer applications and operating environments as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides consultation to the clinical staff who participates in the delivery of care to patients with needs for psychiatric evaluation and/or treatment.
- Participates in the development and maintenance of current operational policies and procedures related to Psychiatric programs.
- Participates in the selection of nursing specialty candidates for employment as Psychiatric nursing specialists when indicated.
- Assumes major responsibility for development and implementation of orientation, education, and training activities for agency regarding the care of the patients with identified psychiatric needs.
- Collaborates with the Quality Management staff to design, monitor, and evaluate the continuous quality improvement process in addition to risk management components of the clinical program. Identifies and designs actions plans as indicated in response to data generated from the continuous quality improvement program and clinical observations.
- Act as liaison with the medical community at large regarding LTC Psychiatric Nursing programs.
- Perform direct care and documentation for select patients and caregivers that require specialist expertise and meets specified productivity.
- Maintains current clinical knowledge in areas of Psychiatric Nursing.
- Participates on agency committees that are assigned.
- Manage and evaluate the care deficit in complex cases.
- Consult with staff and clients on ethical issues related to treatment and self-determinism.
- Participates in the development of multidisciplinary plans of care for individual patients upon request of the team manager and when barriers to access and utilization are detected.
- Assists team supervisors in identifying those patients on their teams who could benefit from Psychiatric nurse internal referrals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Valid NYS registered nursing license required.
- At least 2 years nursing experience as a Professional RN; experience in Certified Home Health Agency; experience as an Psychiatric Nurse
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE: $67,500.00 - $93,600.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
