Position Title: Online Student Support Specialist – credit accumulation & Acceleration

Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Archer Academy of Accelerated Learning, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Work Calendar: In accordance with the approved school calendar and contract days

Position Overview

The Online Student Support Teacher – credit accumulation & Acceleration serves a critical role in ensuring students remain engaged, supported, plugged in to the learning community, and on track toward graduation through Archer Academy’s accelerated learning model. This position provides individualized academic monitoring, intervention, coaching, and instructional support for students participating in online and blended credit accumulation pathways.

In alignment with Archer Academy of Accelerated Learning’s mission to create an environment through inclusiveness, instructional best practices, and mental, social, and behavioral supports, the Online Student Support Teacher develops meaningful relationships with students, removes barriers to learning, and provides just-in-time interventions that help students overcome challenges and achieve success in college, career, and community readiness.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesStudent Monitoring, Coaching, and Academic Progress
  • Monitors student participation, attendance, pacing, and performance within online credit accumulation and acceleration programs.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with students regarding progress, goals, course completion, and graduation readiness.
  • Conducts regular progress conferences and individualized check-ins with students.
  • Utilizes early warning indicators including attendance, engagement, assignment completion, and course performance to proactively identify students requiring intervention.
  • Supports students in developing organizational skills, self-advocacy, time management, and academic habits that promote long-term success.
Academic Intervention and Instructional Support
  • Provides individualized and small-group academic assistance aligned to student learning needs.
  • Delivers targeted intervention and tutoring to address unfinished learning and support course completion.
  • Assists students in understanding assignments, assessments, and instructional content across multiple subject areas.
  • Collaborates with staff to provide just-in-time remediation and acceleration supports.
  • Supports implementation of schoolwide instructional systems and intervention strategies.
Relationship Building and Student Engagement
  • Builds positive and supportive relationships that foster trust, accountability, and student ownership.
  • Creates a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes student belonging and engagement.
  • Recognizes and celebrates student growth, persistence, milestones, and academic achievements.
  • Supports implementation of restorative practices, student-centered supports, and relationship-based interventions.
  • Demonstrates practices consistent with Archer Academy's culture and behavioral expectations.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Communicates consistently with students, families, teachers, counselors, and support staff regarding student progress and intervention plans.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, student support discussions, and graduation planning efforts.
  • Collaborates with advisory staff and intervention teams to align supports for students experiencing academic or social-emotional challenges.
  • Maintains strong communication systems to support both in-person and remote learners.
Technology and Learning Platform Support
  • Supports students in navigating online learning systems, educational platforms, and digital instructional tools.
  • Assists with troubleshooting basic technology challenges that impact student participation and engagement.
  • Helps ensure students have access to necessary instructional resources and technology supports.
Data Collection and Continuous Improvement
  • Maintains accurate documentation of student attendance, communication, interventions, and progress.
  • Utilizes data systems and student performance reports to monitor outcomes and inform interventions.
  • Prepares reports and provides updates regarding student performance, course completion, and credit attainment.
  • Analyzes trends and contributes recommendations to improve credit accumulation systems and student supports.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required.
  • Current New Mexico Educational Assistant license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Experience working with high school students, alternative education settings, credit accumulation programs, or online learning environments preferred.
  • Experience using educational technology platforms and student data systems preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to support diverse learners and students with varied academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity, student success, and relationship-centered practices.
