TheUniversity of New Mexico, College of Education and Human Sciences, Departmentof Individual, Family, and Community Education, invites applications for anOpen Rank Professor position in Counselor Education, with expertise in SchoolCounseling for the 2026-2027 academic year, to begin in the Fall of 2026.

The Counseling Education Program resides in the Department ofIndividual, Family, and Community Education within the College of Education andHuman Sciences. The Counseling Education program offers both master's anddoctoral degrees that are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation ofCounseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The master's degreerequires a minimum of 60 semester credit hours and is offered in clinicalmental health counseling and school counseling areas of focus. Completion ofthe degree meets the preparatory standards for eligibility in New Mexico as a licensedschool counselor and/or a licensed mental health counselor.

Responsibilities

Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to (a) engage in active scholarlyactivities and productivity and (b) teach a variety of graduate-level coursesin the school counseling curriculum and the CACREP core classes. In addition, the successful candidate willadvise and direct graduate student work at master's and doctoral levels.This individual is also expected to serve on program, department, college, anduniversity committees as needed as well as assume an active role in all programactivities including coordination, accreditation, and community outreach. Appointmentrank will be determined based on the candidate's teaching experience, scholarlyrecord, and professional contributions.

1. Ph.D. in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP accredited program by the appointment start date, or have a closely related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in School Counseling preferably froma CACREP accredited program.
2. Licensed or licenseeligible as a school counselor.
3. Excellence or potentialfor excellence in teaching graduate courses in the area of school counseling andthe CACREP core courses.
4. Established or potentialfor a promising research agenda evidenced by publications and/or presentationsand/or grant funding appropriate for their career stage.
5. Potential for assuming anactive role in or evidenced experiences with program activities includingcoordination, advisement and mentorship of students, accreditation, andcommunity outreach.
6. A demonstrated commitmentto cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico andto the success of the university's mission to serve local and globalcommunities.
7. Professional dispositionsincluding ability to work collegially in a collaborative team environment withstrong professional counseling and/or school counseling identity.
