DIRECT REPORTS: Maintenance technicians & helpers
POSITION SUMMARY: Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations during their assigned shift to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met. They manage and support employees, coordinate workflow, address operational issues, and monitor performance metrics. The role involves implementing company policies, training staff, and maintaining communication with other Shift Maintenance Supervisor and Management to ensure smooth shift operations and appropriate shift handoff. Qualities include optimism, self-motivation, care, promptness, and trustworthiness. Responsible for keeping morale high and maintain a cooperative interactive relationship between shifts.

Your supervision ensures every piece of equipment works seamlessly, keeping the plant in top condition for production with a motivated team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
• Schedule, train and motivate employees for maintenance tasks
• Work with off Shift Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager to provide daily communications to operations on down equipment and operational needs.
• Prioritizes workload and ensures workload is evenly distributed.
• Reviews productivity levels and the progress of all repairs.
• Ensures all maintenance employees have tools, equipment and supplies to perform maintenance and/or daily tasks.
• Ensure adequate training of maintenance technicians on shift.
• Administer company policy and procedures and promote positive employee relations.
• Promote the use of relevant technology and information systems that improve shop performance.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical & electrical equipment including PLC’s.
• Develop CMMS to implement with Parts Inventory, Parts Area, Maintenance Area.
• Develop planned maintenance system that accurately tracks all equipment data.
• Ensure efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates.
• Monitor inventory.
• Develop familiarity with ensuring compliance with safety, health, environment and community company policies and procedures as they pertain to facility operations and equipment usage and operation
• Prepare shift reports (how the shift ran, incidents/resolved, outstanding tasks, what broke or is failing, what needs ordering, staffing) including production metrics for proper handoff.
• Opens up the facility or closes the facility and secured contingent upon assigned shift.
• Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals as well as the team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
• 5+ years mechanic experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
• Previous supervisory experience (3+ years) in a diverse, fast-paced manufacturing/production environment.
• Know how to foster motivation & a first time right attitude and remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to create a transparent work environment.
• Be a strong communicator with the ability to promote collaboration.
• Ability to set clear timelines & specific objectives.
• Monitor productivity and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Ability to fabricate & install metal & electronic components.
• Coordinate with other shifts to maintain operational continuity.
• Excellent mechanical ability and strong analytical skills.
• Address equipment malfunctions and oversee troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedure and work from a set of written instructions.
• Ability to work in a plant processing environment for extended periods of time.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Flexibility required to work successfully on a team.
• Active individual who will be comfortable spending most of the day walking.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good time management and multi-tasking ability.
• Must speak and understand English; Spanish speaking a plus.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent business experience required
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Position requires excellent verbal and written English communication skills including; ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Basic Spanish communication skills desired.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
