This position is responsible for a variety of task related to maintaining and improving plant processing and ancillary equipment through services provided by 3rd party vendors or by performing preventative and routine checks themselves. The coordinator will research, quote, document and initiate requisitions for non-stocked parts and supplies as needed throughout the plant. The coordinator will also be partially responsible for filling in as a Maintenance Associate during planned and unplanned absences or during periods of high work demand.
Summary:
The Maintenance Planner / Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of manufacturing equipment. This role develops detailed job plans, optimizes labor and material resources, and works closely with maintenance, operations, and reliability teams to minimize downtime and improve asset performance.
Essential Duties:
- Develop detailed maintenance job plans for preventive, predictive, and corrective work, including labor estimates, tools, materials, parts, and safety requirements.
- Build and maintain short-term and long-term maintenance schedules aligned with production priorities and resource availability.
- Coordinate with Operations to schedule maintenance activities that minimize production impact.
- Manage work orders in the CMMS, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely closure.
- Ensure all required parts, materials, and external services are identified and available prior to job execution.
- Analyze backlog, prioritize work, and recommend adjustments based on risk, criticality, and equipment condition.
- Support reliability initiatives by incorporating failure data, PM optimization, and continuous improvement feedback into job plans.
- Track schedule compliance, wrench time, backlog health, and other maintenance KPIs.
- Facilitate weekly and daily scheduling meetings with maintenance and operations teams.
- Support contractor coordination, including scope definition and schedule alignment.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Maintenance, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in maintenance planning/scheduling
- Working knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
- Experience using a CMMS (e.g., SAP, MaintainX, Somax, etc).
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Ability to be on-call during the week.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or planning/scheduling certification.
- Experience in continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with KPIs such as schedule compliance, backlog management, and MTBF/MTTR.

Working Conditions:
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and possibly climbing. The employee must be able to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds and have the ability to walk plant floors, climb stairs or ladders, and access equipment areas as needed.
- Planner will be working in a manufacturing plant environment with occasional exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.
- May require occasional off-shift or weekend support during outages or major maintenance activities.
