We are seeking an accomplished Chief Trust Officer to lead and grow Devon Bank's Trust Department. This executive will be responsible for driving strategic business development, expanding trust and wealth management relationships, and ensuring exceptional client service while maintaining the highest standards of fiduciary oversight and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of all department personnel
- Fully responsible and accountable for the performance of the Trust team, including risk management, compliance, and service delivery
- Oversees administration of Trust, Guardianships, Estate Settlements, IRA and Investment Management relationships
- Supervises and manages operations
- Participates in and manages new business development and marketing
- Acts as Chief Investment Officer, collaborating with trust investment committee, outside investment professionals and researchers
- Prepares annual budget and is responsible for the profitability of the department
- Negotiates & executes trust contracts with the approval of the Trust Committee
- Maintains and updates department policies and procedures
- Partners across the enterprise with all other profit centers to deliver a high level of sales and service to relationship managers and their clients
- Develop, acquire and maintain relationships with key clients with comprehensive financial services needs
- Responsible for the overall results of the team, including client service, fiduciary responsibility and team member development
- Maintain high visibility within the banking and legal community
- Serve as subject matter expert on fiduciary administration, including governing instrument interpretation, adherence to fiduciary principles and applicable laws, and the application of prudent investing standards. Continuously supports internal colleagues in all aspects of trust account administration.
- Acts as the dedicated fiduciary trust officer for high-level book of fiduciary relationships, including trusts, guardianships and descendant’s estates.
- Reviews all new account documentation and approves prior to account opening.
- Oversee fiduciary tax preparation for trust relationships and descendant’s estates, plus personal tax preparation for guardianships.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 15+ years of Trust experience, including 10 years of management
- A history of delivering top-notch client services as well as internal fiduciary guidance and expertise. Must provide management oversight in all areas of Trust, principally with compliance and regulations specific to trusts, guardianships and estates
- Advanced business degree required or law degree
- Completion of Trust School, including compliance training
- Thorough understanding of trusts, guardianships, fiduciary standards and estate administration.
- Ability to build relationships with team members and other Profit Centers
- Comprehensive knowledge of all trust administrative and operational functions
- Proficient and adept as wealth/investment manager with knowledge of financial planning
- Working knowledge of income tax, both fiduciary and personal
- Entrepreneurial skills – ability to form and build relationships with centers of influence, including attorneys and accounting firms
- Demonstrated ability to be a strong leader, coach and motivator

The base pay for this role is $185,000 to $205,000 based on experience.
