Play a critical role in shaping the future of airport infrastructure and maintenance operations in the U.S. Virgin Islands as Senior Facilities Supervisor with Avports.
As STT and STX transition under a public-private partnership (P3) operating model, this position offers a unique opportunity to help lead airport maintenance operations, facility improvements, infrastructure reliability, and regulatory readiness across two growing airport environments.
Serve as a key maintenance leader responsible for supporting the Facilities Manager in the oversight of airport facilities, maintenance programs, contractor performance, and capital improvement activities while ensuring compliance with FAA requirements, local regulations, and Avports operating standards.
The Opportunity
As the senior maintenance operations lead supporting both Cyril E. King Airport (STT) and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX), you will work at the intersection of airport infrastructure, facility maintenance, regulatory compliance, project support, and stakeholder coordination.
This role provides the opportunity to partner closely with airport leadership, operations personnel, maintenance staff, contractors, tenants, utilities, and regulatory agencies to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of airport facilities and infrastructure.
You will play an integral role in maintaining Part 139 readiness, managing preventive maintenance programs, supporting capital improvement projects, overseeing maintenance personnel and contractors, and ensuring airport facilities remain operational while supporting the long-term vision of Avports and its USVI airport partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Facilities Manager in overseeing airport maintenance programs, including terminal facilities, airfield lighting systems, pavement maintenance, utilities, mechanical systems, and airport infrastructure.
- Lead and supervise Facilities Supervisors, custodial teams, skilled trades personnel, technicians, and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of maintenance activities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs, work schedules, operating procedures, and maintenance response plans.
- Support FAA Part 139 compliance activities, corrective action programs, environmental compliance initiatives, and inspection readiness throughout airport facilities.
- Monitor maintenance contracts, vendor performance, construction activities, and capital improvement projects to ensure quality, compliance, and operational continuity.
- Oversee troubleshooting and repair of facility systems, including HVAC, chiller systems, plumbing, electrical infrastructure, terminal equipment, airfield lighting, signage, and related systems.
- Maintain maintenance records, facility documentation, drawings, schematics, reports, and operational data while supporting budget planning and procurement activities.
- Collaborate with airport operations, tenants, contractors, utility providers, emergency response teams, and stakeholders to support routine operations, emergencies, severe weather events, and infrastructure resilience.

- Strong understanding of airport facilities maintenance, infrastructure management, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to lead maintenance teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and airfield infrastructure systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project coordination, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational reliability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, Aviation Management, ora related field preferred.
- Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance experience, including supervisory responsibility in airport, aviation, transportation, industrial, municipal, or comparable infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting FAA Part 139 compliance, maintenance programs, capital projects, and contractor management.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, pavement maintenance, environmental compliance programs, and applicable building and fire codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, engineering specifications, schematics, and operations and maintenance manuals.
- AAAE Certified Member (C.M.) or Airport Certified Employee (A.C.E.) preferred or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security credentials and unescorted access privileges (SIDA badge).
- Successfully pass required background investigations, maintain a valid driver’s license, and satisfactorily meet driving record requirements.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required; must pass required background and driving record checks.
- Ability to work across STT and STX airport locations.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, on elevated surfaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Must be available for emergency response, after-hours call-outs, FAA inspections, and operational disruptions.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physical maintenance-related activities as required.
- Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive business, operational, facility, and security-related information.
Work Environment
- Serve in a leadership role supporting operations at two active commercial service airports operating in highly regulated airside and landside environments.
- Split responsibilities between office administration, field inspections, maintenance oversight, and project coordination activities.
- Travel between STT and STX as operational requirements dictate.
- Maintain availability to respond to emergencies, infrastructure failures, severe weather events, and regulatory matters outside normal business hours.
- Work closely with airport leadership, operations personnel, tenants, contractors, utility providers, regulatory agencies, and airport stakeholders.
- Support continuous airport operations in a dynamic environment requiring adaptability, sound judgment, technical expertise, and decisive leadership.
