The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional faculty member to teach the following Adult Basic Education courses face to face (including labs) in Kamloops Fall 2026: MATH 0650 (Provincial Foundations of Mathematics ).
Students study a variety of math concepts including logical reasoning and set theory, permutations and combinations, probability, exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomial and sinusoidal functions, and financial mathematics.
• Master's degree in a relevant field (required)
• At least one degree in mathematics. Consideration will be given to a degree with a minor or a concentration in mathematics, or a degree in a closely related discipline. (required)
• Teaching Certificate or Instructor’s Diploma or 5 years teaching experience (required)
• Experience teaching students whose educational, social, and economic backgrounds are diverse, and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging (required)
• Teaching experience in ABE mathematics courses (preferred)
• Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching (preferred)
• Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) (preferred)
• Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) (preferred)
• Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) (preferred)
