Job Description
Location: Omaha, NE
As a Feedlot Performance Intern at Balance4ward, you’ll work alongside our Feedlot Performance team and gain hands-on experience helping identify opportunities within client operations. Nutrition is only one piece of feedlot performance. You’ll gain exposure to cattle health, feed management, operational efficiency, data analysis, financial considerations, and the day-to-day decisions that influence a feedlot’s overall performance.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Feedlot Performance team with client projects, research, data analysis, and day-to-day consulting activities
- Gain hands-on experience with bunk reading, feed calling, feed sampling, and mixer testing
- Learn about ration formulation, feedstuffs, supplements, feed quality, and nutrition decisions
- Assist with analyzing cattle performance, operational data, and financial information
- Gain exposure to cattle health, feed transitions, batching, timing, and other feedlot management decisions
- Participate in client visits, consultations, audits, industry events, and other learning opportunities
- Learn how recommendations are adapted to fit each client’s operation, goals, and challenges
- Research feedlot management and industry topics and turn findings into useful client or team resources
- Take ownership of assigned projects from planning through completion
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is positive, dependable, analytical, curious, and ready to learn. The right person is willing to ask questions, solve problems, work with data, communicate with clients and team members, take initiative, receive feedback, and look at the whole operation rather than just one piece of it.
This isn’t an internship where you’ll spend the summer watching from the sidelines. You’ll spend time both in the office and on the road, contribute to real client work, and gain hands-on experience understanding the many factors that drive feedlot performance and profitability.
Housing: Balance4ward will assist in locating housing for the duration of the summer within drivable distance of the Omaha office location. Intern will be responsible for up to $200 of living expenses per month plus any extra utilities. If a home address is within drivable distance, the intern may commute.
The Balance4ward Internship Program is a paid, 12-week opportunity that takes place during the summer months (May–August). Interns are expected to commit to the full 12-week program.
