Position Summary

The IT Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support for employees, computer systems, hardware, software, network connectivity, and related technology resources. This role serves as a first point of contact for IT support needs, troubleshooting issues, maintaining equipment, supporting system access, and helping ensure reliable technology operations across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to employees for hardware, software, network, printer, phone, and system access issues.
  • Respond to support requests in a timely, professional manner and document issues, resolutions, and follow-up actions in the appropriate tracking system.
  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, and related equipment.
  • Set up workstations, user accounts, email access, permissions, and equipment for new hires, transfers, and role changes.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding technology needs, including equipment preparation, account setup, access changes, and asset recovery.
  • Monitor, maintain, and support basic network connectivity, including wired and wireless access, switches, routers, and related infrastructure as assigned.
  • Install, update, and troubleshoot operating systems, business applications, antivirus tools, security patches, and other approved software.
  • Support cybersecurity best practices by helping maintain secure systems, identifying potential risks, and educating users on safe technology use.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for IT equipment, licenses, accessories, and assigned assets.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate internal or external resources while maintaining communication with end users.
  • Assist with technology projects, equipment upgrades, system rollouts, and process improvements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, and system information in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, technical certification, or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in IT support, help desk, desktop support, or technical troubleshooting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, desktop hardware, printers, mobile devices, and common business software.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Ability to diagnose technical issues, research solutions, and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow procedures, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or other relevant technical certifications.
  • Experience using help desk ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, endpoint management tools, VoIP systems, security cameras, access control systems, or similar business technologies.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, food production, or multi-site business environment.

  • Willingness to learn new systems, tools, and technologies as business needs evolve.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift or move IT equipment as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, including computers, monitors, printers, and related equipment.
  • Ability to work at a desk, in office areas, equipment rooms, production areas, or other business locations as needed.
  • May require occasional travel between company locations or availability outside normal business hours for urgent support needs, system maintenance, or project work.
