Localization Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Localization Specialist based in Canada.

This role supports the delivery of high-quality multilingual content across digital learning products and services.
You will coordinate localization projects from requirements gathering through delivery, ensuring timelines, quality, and stakeholder expectations are met.
The position combines project management, technical writing, localization operations, and customer-focused problem solving.
You will work closely with internal teams, external partners, vendors, and subject matter experts to identify and resolve localization challenges.
The role also offers opportunities to use AI-assisted tools to improve translation quality, content workflows, and operational efficiency.
You will contribute to scalable processes, documentation, and quality programs that improve the experience for customers and learners worldwide.

Accountabilities
  • Manage localization projects and course package translation requests from initial requirements gathering through successful delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify localization gaps, troubleshoot translation issues, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and partners to manage localization deliverables, timelines, quality expectations, and ongoing relationships.
  • Develop, conduct, and track translation quality programs while monitoring localization issue trends and time-to-resolution metrics.
  • Analyze localization workflows and content localizability to identify opportunities for process improvements and more efficient solutions.
  • Create, maintain, and refine standard operating procedures, FAQs, blog posts, known-issue and fixed-issue documentation, and other external-facing content.
  • Monitor publishing queues and review, edit, and publish content and media in accordance with established technical writing standards.
  • Gather and analyze localization requirements in collaboration with requestors and subject matter experts.
  • Use data tracking tools to produce actionable insights that support localization performance and operational decisions.
  • Support high-priority localization initiatives and additional projects as business needs evolve.
  • Leverage AI-assisted authoring, summarization, translation, and quality-assurance tools responsibly, validating outputs for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with AI governance standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience, with approximately 2–3 years of relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a four-year degree.
  • Professional experience managing human or machine translation and post-editing projects.
  • Fluency in English and at least one additional language, such as Canadian French, Mexican Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, or Arabic.
  • Experience with Translation Management Software and familiarity with content management and learning management systems.
  • Working knowledge of GitHub and version-control practices.
  • Familiarity with technical content and web technologies, including JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication and technical writing skills, with an ability to create clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with confidence working across internal teams, external vendors, and subject matter experts.
  • Experience analyzing localization data, tracking issues, and translating operational findings into actionable improvements.
  • Ability to use AI-powered tools thoughtfully for content creation, translation optimization, summarization, and quality assurance while independently validating their outputs.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and willingness to learn new technologies, workflows, and localization practices.
