Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • 6:30 AM–4:30 PM (onsite position)
  • Shift hours may vary based on the needs of the practice as determined by the Practice Administrator
Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a primary care, internal medicine, or ambulatory care setting.
  • Strong assessment, triage, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.

Support staff hired at a 0.50 FTE or greater on or after April 1, 2024, are eligible for our structured retention bonus program:

Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave

After one year of employment and 1,250 hours worked, Eagle provides up to two weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave for the birth or adoption of a child. Leave is prorated based on FTE status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triages incoming patients to determine the priority and severity of their condition and provides appropriate care according to established protocols and provider direction.
  • Obtains and documents patient health histories, vital statistics, current conditions, and other pertinent clinical information accurately in the appropriate medical record.
  • Performs phlebotomy and in-house laboratory procedures and accurately records and communicates results as indicated.
  • Assists physicians and extenders with general office and clinical procedures, including laceration repairs and other treatments as directed.
  • Administers prescribed medications by injection or orally as directed by the provider and monitors patients for appropriate responses and potential adverse reactions.
  • Provides patients with instructions regarding illnesses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care; distributes appropriate educational materials and responds to patient questions within the scope of the position.
  • Reviews laboratory reports and ensures results are documented in the patient’s chart and made available for physician review.
  • Obtains signed medical releases from patients when required and maintains appropriate documentation.
  • Assists with coordinating home health nursing services, pre-certifications, re-certifications, and pre-authorizations as needed.
  • Performs x-ray procedures when qualified and called upon to do so, following established safety and operational procedures.
  • Operates and maintains medical equipment and instruments as required, including blood pressure cuffs, tympanometers, thermometers, HemaCue equipment, spirometers, Titmus equipment, audiometers, emergency equipment, needles and syringes, sigmoidoscopes, suction machines, microscopes, nebulizers, EKG equipment, pulmonary function equipment, Holter monitors, x-ray equipment, and other equipment as indicated.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical and exam areas; restocks supplies as needed and prepares lists of medical supplies required.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instruments, equipment, and exam rooms in accordance with established training, infection control, and safety procedures.
  • Ensures restricted or controlled materials, including medications, needles, syringes, prescription pads, and patient medical records, are properly secured and accessible only to authorized personnel.
  • Follows clinic policies regarding sample medications and dispenses medications only upon signed authorization from a provider.
  • Disposes of infectious waste in accordance with established training, safety, and infection control procedures.
  • Adheres to established Eagle policies, procedures, safety regulations, and infection control standards, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and promptly reports equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Provides care appropriate to the patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity and modifies care appropriately based on individual patient needs.
  • Demonstrates awareness of patient fears, apprehensions, and individual concerns and provides care in a manner that promotes comfort, dignity, and safety.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, laboratory results, and other pertinent information; posts test and examination results and ensures information is available for physician review.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, legible, and confidential documentation using appropriate grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and maintains the security of Protected Health Information (PHI), employee information, and business information.
  • Does not exhibit, divulge, copy, remove, or otherwise disclose the contents of any patient or business record except as necessary to fulfill assigned job responsibilities.
  • Attends required staff meetings and participates in committees and organizational activities as requested.
  • Shows respect, courtesy, professionalism, and advocacy in all interactions with patients, coworkers, providers, and visitors.
  • Displays a positive attitude and team-oriented spirit, with a willingness to assist where and whenever needed.
