Position Summary
-
The Nursing Scholar Coordinator is responsible for the management of clinical experiences for an assigned population of pre-licensure nursing students, the oversight of Clinical Instructors, and serves as a liaison between the hospital and affiliated nursing school(s). This position ensures that all clinical experiences are designed, implemented, and evaluated in accordance with Georgia Board of Nursing (Georgia BON) standards, hospital institutional policy, and the curricular and accreditation requirements of affiliated nursing program(s).
The Nursing Scholar Coordinator exercises independent professional judgment in coordinating complex, multi-unit scheduling environments and in maintaining the quality and compliance of the hospital's clinical education operations. This role requires a high degree of organizational proficiency, collaborative leadership, and working knowledge of regulatory requirements governing pre-licensure nursing education in the State of Georgia.

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing - Required

Master's of Science in Nursing with focus in Nursing Education, Nursing Leadership or other related field - Preferred

Experience

2-4 Years Acute Care Setting - Required

Prior experience in clinical nursing education, nursing program coordination, staff education, or a comparable education-facing role, strongly preferred

Registered Nurse License with State of Practice - Required

National Nursing Certification must be obtained within 6 months of eligibility

Core Job Functions
- Collaborate with hospital leaders, nursing school faculty, and clinical instructors to secure clinical learning environments that support student competency, patient care standards, site expectations, unit protocols, safety requirements, and policy updates.
- Recruit, orient, support, and evaluate Clinical Instructors in alignment with School of Nursing and Hospital guidelines, providing feedback and corrective guidance as needed.
- Coordinate instructor meetings, pre-clinical briefings, professional development, program planning, curriculum alignment, and evaluation activities to support instructor competency and engagement.
- Prepare reports, data summaries, accreditation documentation, and annual professional development records for Clinical Instructors and SJ/C Scholars; notify stakeholders of deadlines and deficiencies.
- Support hospital nursing education initiatives and departmental goals as directed by the Chief Nursing Officer and/or Director of Professional Practice. Serve on hospital committees, nursing program advisory committees, or other institutional bodies as assigned.
