Job Description
Position Overview
We’re seeking a dependable, safety-focused Part-Time Facility & Rail Operations Technician to support both our rail terminal operations and facility grounds maintenance. This role shifts seasonally:
Summer (Day Shift, Weekdays): Primarily yard maintenance, grounds and equipment upkeep, and general facility support
Winter (Evenings/Nights, Weekends as needed): Rail terminal operations supporting safe propane unloading and transfer activities
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in doing work safely and correctly, while efficiently helping keep the Northland fueled and our facility running smoothly year-round.
What You’ll Do
Winter – Rail Terminal Operations
Safely connect, monitor, and unload propane from railcars into storage tanks
Monitor gauges, valves, and transfer equipment during operations
Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures
Perform basic equipment inspections and report issues promptly
Maintain accurate unloading logs and operational records
Summer – Yard & Facility Maintenance
Maintain lawns, grounds, and overall facility appearance with landscaping needs
Remove debris, trash, and weeds from facility areas
Operate equipment such as skid steers and power tools
Retrieve parts and supplies from local vendors as needed
Support service technicians with tasks such as trenching and gas line work
Track and maintain inventory of parts and consumables
Help with routine maintenance and repairs of propane tanks and equipment
You’ll Thrive In This Role If You Have:
Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operations
Previous experience in grounds maintenance, propane, rail, or terminal operations (preferred, not required—training available)
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 100 lbs
Requirements
Must be 18 years or older
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to obtain DOT health card
CDL preferred but not required
Must pass background check, drug screening, and required safety training
Schedule
Summer: Daytime shifts, weekdays
Winter: Evening
ights and weekends as needed
Flexible part-time scheduling with seasonal variation
