Job Description
Summary
Under the direction of the department supervisor or manager, responsible for the organization, maintenance, and documentation of all specialty surgical supplies and instrumentation. Responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, monitoring and leading the specific group of staff. Is responsible for the day to day operations of staff. Is available for questions or direction with decisions for staff members and brings concerns or issues to the Supervisor. Works as a liaison between Sterile Processing, Operating Room, and vendor representatives, ensuring instrumentation is available for surgery and ancillary areas. Plans, organizes and orders surgical instruments and implants. Maintains instrument inventory and record of all borrowed/loaned instruments. Assists SPD Supervisor with daily duties that are essential to the function of the department. Responsible for operating and maintaining all Sterile Processing equipment. Ability to work independently and perform proficiently without supervision and serve as a resource for all elements of Sterile Processing.
Education
Must be high school graduate or equivalent GED.
Licensure/Certification
CRCST Certification.
Experience
Two-year minimum experience as a Sterile Processing Technician required.
Other Qualifications
Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology. Working knowledge of various computer systems/programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Censitrac, and Epic. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Inclination for troubleshooting in a high-paced environment.
