Job Description
The Student Success Director (SSD) provides leadership and oversight of student support operations within their assigned school in Somerset County, ensuring services are delivered in alignment with The Nathaniel Alliance Center (The N.A.C.) standards. This role is responsible for supporting the overall functioning of school – based mission services while fostering student growth academically, socially, emotionally, and mentally.
The Director builds strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners to ensure students remain engaged, supported, and on track for graduation. They identify student needs through data and direct engagement, coordinate interventions, and connect students to essential resources including basic needs, mental health support, mentoring, and college and career readiness.
Duties/ Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight of student engagement, outreach, and support services at assigned school site.
- Develop and implement student mentorship, follow – up systems, and leadership development pathways.
- Coordinate weekly student programming, including clubs, enrichment activities, outreach events, and group sessions.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteer leaders and program staff.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community partners.
- Identify student needs using attendance, academic, behavioral, and engagement data to guide targeted support and intervention strategies.
- Connect students and families to essential resources including basic needs support, mental health services, and academic or career guidance.
- Support planning and implementation of student retreats, camps, and community engagement events.
- Provide ongoing coaching, supervision, and evaluation of volunteer leaders and program contributors.
- Collaborate with community organizations, churches, and local partners to expand student opportunities and resources.
- Maintain appropriate oversight of program budgets, grant funding, and related financial tracking.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, one – on – one coaching sessions, and leadership development check -ins.
- Promote a culture of positive youth development, mentorship, and holistic student growth.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, mentorship, and organizational learning opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with parents / guardians and communicate student progress and engagement.
- Support donor engagement efforts by communicating program impact and student outcomes as needed.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of community and school needs to improve program effectiveness and reach.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Business Management, or related field.
- Experience in youth development, education, nonprofit programming, or student support services.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship – building skills.
- Ability to work with diverse student populations in school – based environments.
- Experience with mentorship, program coordination, or community engagement initiatives.
