Position Overview
The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring the accurate reconciliation of daily financial transactions while delivering seamless, discreet, and personalized guest service during overnight hours. This role combines financial precision with refined hospitality, serving as a trusted overnight ambassador of the property and brand.
What You'll Do
Financial & Audit Responsibilities
- Perform daily audit procedures, ensuring accuracy of all financial transactions across front office, food and beverage, spa, and ancillary outlets.
- Reconcile room revenue, tax postings, and payment methods in accordance with brand and accounting standards.
- Balance daily cash, credit card, and ledger accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute daily financial reports to management and corporate offices as required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and guest information.
Front Office & Guest Service
- Provide warm, polished, and anticipatory service to guests during overnight hours.
- Efficiently manage late-night check-ins, early-morning departures, and guest inquiries.
- Handle guest concerns with professionalism, discretion, and a service recovery mindset.
- Assist VIP, repeat guest, and special-status guest needs overnight.
Overnight Operations Support
- Act as a key overnight operational contact in coordination with the Overnight Manager or Manager on Duty.
- Monitor lobby presentation, front desk standards, and overnight guest areas to ensure five-star appearance.
- Coordinate with valet, security, engineering, and housekeeping to address guest requests or incidents.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, system issues, or unexpected situations.
Systems, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all postings are accurate in the Property Management System (PEP).
- Verify room rates, packages, allowances, and no-show charges.
- Maintain audit checklists, logs, and compliance documentation.
- Communicate unresolved issues clearly for morning operations follow-up.
What You'll Bring
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Required Experience
- Overnight shift experience required.
Preferred Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in front office, accounting, or night audit in luxury or upscale hospitality preferred.
- Prior experience with PMS and POS systems such as PEP and Toast preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of hotel accounting principles and front office operations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Calm, professional demeanor during overnight hours.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
