Our client, a respected and established organization in the mortgage legal services industry, is seeking a Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join their accounting team. What You’ll Do:

Own Core Accounting Functions

• Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity
• Oversee key balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Support accounts payable, receivable, and cash management functions as needed

Lead Month-End Close

• Own key components of the monthly and annual close process
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of close deliverables
• Prepare schedules, supporting documentation, and close analytics

Financial Reporting & Business Support

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Develop internal reporting packages for leadership review
• Analyze financial results, trends, and variances
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

Improve Processes & Controls

• Identify inefficiencies and recommend smarter ways of working
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
• Help implement automation, system enhancements, or workflow improvements

Leadership & Growth

• Partner closely with accounting leadership on priorities and initiatives
• Mentor junior team members and serve as a go-to resource
• Take on special projects and increased responsibility over time

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems
• Detail-oriented, organized, and solutions-focused mindset
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• CPA or CPA track a plus
• Experience in professional services, legal, mortgage, real estate, or high-volume transactional environments a plus
• Experience supporting audits, budgeting, or forecasting a plus
