The Department of Accounting, Finance, and Law in the Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for one or more sessional positions to teach the following courses during the Fall Semester 2025 (September through December):

  • ACCT 2250 Management Accounting (2 sections)
  • ACCT 2280 Accounting Software Systems (1 section)
  • ACCT 3230 Income Taxation 2 (2 sections)

All instruction is face-to-face, so the applicant(s) selected will have to be located near Kamloops or be willing to relocate. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday, during the day and in the evenings. This is an excellent opportunity for accountants working in the community to teach part-time at night and share their knowledge with students just entering the industry. Those currently living outside Kamloops who are interested in full-time sessional employment of five courses per semester are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Semester details are as follows:
Classes run: January 12 – April 14, 2026
Exam Period: April 16 – April 29, 2026
Final grades due: May 6, 2026

About the Department
The Department of Accounting, Finance & Law is one of five departments in the Gaglardi School. It is a supportive and collegial team, with approximately 20 full-time departmental faculty members and numerous part-time instructors from the local business community. The department delivers core courses to all BBA, graduate and post-baccalaureate diploma students and manages the Accounting and Finance Majors and Minors and the Post-baccalaureate Diplomas in Accounting and Finance. Students who complete the Accounting Major or Post-baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting receive all possible exemptions in the CPA Professional Education Program. The Finance Major and Post-baccalaureate Diploma in Finance are members of the CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program.

With over 2500 on-campus students, the Gaglardi School is the largest business school in the British Columbia interior, offering undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate programs in business and economics including Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master in Environmental Economics and Management (MEEM), and Master of Science in Environmental Economics and Management (MScEEM).

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should possess:

  • MBA or master’s degree in accounting
  • Canadian CPA designation is required
  • Potential for superior teaching is required
  • Significant related work experience is preferred
  • Ability to use a variety of instructional technologies is preferred
