About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY

The Parent Resource Coordinator is responsible for the direct delivery of parenting education and substance use prevention workshops to families and youth in Flagstaff. This position provides evidence-based Active Parenting classes, facilitates Substance Use Prevention Workshops, and supports the Family Resource Center located in Downtown Flagstaff. The facilitator also conducts outreach to recruit families, caregivers, and community members, helping to increase awareness and participation in Parenting Arizona’s community-based services. In addition, the facilitator attends outreach and educational awareness events throughout the Flagstaff area to promote available programs and build community partnerships. The role also includes coordinating parenting classes across Coconino County, maintaining accurate data and attendance records, and supporting communication efforts such as the development and distribution of a community-facing e-newsletter. This position is essential in promoting positive parenting practices, strengthening family relationships, and supporting overall child and youth well-being throughout the Flagstaff community and greater Coconino County.

SPECIALIZATIONS

Must demonstrate proficiency in using various computer software for community mapping and resource management. Must possess excellent planning and organizational abilities, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, commitment to maintaining up-to-date training and certifications in accordance with agency, program, and curriculum requirements is expected.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Education /Background:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and or 5 years’ experience working in Social Services, Early Childhood, or related field (i.e. Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Family and Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, etc.)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have access to safe, reliable transportation with valid automobile insurance.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance card.
  • Complete CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire and maintain the certifications throughout employment.
  • Minimum of 20 hours per Fiscal Year of continuing education and competency building, including but not limited, to Relias Learning, Conference, Workshops, and/or Outside Training.
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge and/or experience with infant & child development, parent-child attachment, possible behavioral health dynamics of caregivers, as well as the dynamics of child abuse & neglect.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience with strength-based and family-centered provision of primary prevention services.
  • Ability to identify individual/family strengths and planning/advocating around individual/family goals.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience with community resources as well as how to navigate/access these resources for families (some examples of services include Social Service Agencies, Provider Systems such as behavioral health, and division of developmental disabilities.)
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathic, patient, tactful).
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly desirable (will consider other languages)

Other requirements:

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Able to present operational information to personnel at all levels. Able to identify and recruit potential funding sources.
