About This Position

Overview

The drafter prepares layouts and drawings of components, assemblies and systems from specifications, source control drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions for both new and existing buildings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create full-scale and detailed designs of components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Determine appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Prepare basic engineering calculations to support design decisions.
  • Provide input to engineering documentation such as Bill of Materials and Engineering Change Orders.
  • Prepare presentations for program and design reviews.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on engineering design issues.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or program certificate in computer-aided design and drafting.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and AutoCAD MEP
  • Knowledge of industry standards and accompanying policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional team skills with the ability to communicate up as well as across the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb; or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours may be allowed depending on work load. This is not a remote or hybrid position.

Travel

Occasional travel is primarily local during the business day.
