About This Position

  • JOB RELATIONSHIPS
    • Supervises Surgical Instrument Technician and OR Attendants. Responsible to Registered Nurse (circulator) and Director of Surgical Services.
  • DEFINITION OF POSITION
    • The Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical team who primarily acts as the scrub person, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technologist assists anesthesia personnel, surgeons, registered nurses, instrument technicians, and OR attendants in providing optimal patient care before, during, and after surgery.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    • Professional
      • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
      • Surgical Technologist certification preferred (all Surgical Technologists have one year from hire date to complete certification requirements). Meets continuing education requirements annually.
      • Current AHA BLS certification required.
