Join Our Team at the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering!Position overview:Drive the next generation of online education at UCR! We’re looking for an R&D Engineer  2 to build and refine AI powered tools that create and deliver multimedia content (videos, quizzes, presentations) on GESTALT, our proprietary learning platform.What you’ll do:•Develop & deploy AI content creation software .•Enhance and support the GESTALT platform, resolving bugs and optimizing performance.•Turn data into insights by collecting and analyzing user analytics to improve engagement.•Create and curate learning assets aligned with course objectives and accessibility standards.•Collaborate with faculty and guide undergraduate assistants.•Report & present technical progress to sponsors.Position details:If you're passionate about making a difference and eager to grow professionally, we want to hear from you. The expected salary range is up to $88,500.00. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical information to non‑technical audiences.
Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, including frameworks such as FastAPI, Node.js, and React.
Ability to work in a collaborative manner, to assist in identifying any challenges or barriers.
Experience integrating web applications with Generative AI tools
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of engineering principles and software development life‑cycle practices.
Ability to conduct statistical data analysis and visualize results to guide product decisions.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing assignments and meet deadlines.
Working knowledge of engineering principles and methods in order to independently perform professional engineering design work of limited scope and complexity.
Background in Mechanical Engineering with sufficient knowledge and skills in computer programming and software development.
