Job Description

ARA Diagnostic Imaging is seeking an experienced Dense Breast Screening Technician to join our growing team!

**We have two (2) technician openings.

Summary:

Performs dense breast screening exams for interpretation and/or intervention at the request of a licensed practitioner.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform and maintain quality control on dense breast screening equipment as required by manufacturer
  • Perform daily quality assurance of the dense breast screening schedule in order to address potential conflicts
  • Demonstrate competency and proficiency, following established protocols, in the performance of:
  • Dense breast screening examination
  • Proper positioning of the patient
  • Proper orientation and positioning of breast in equipment to obtain required images
  • Digital information systems utilized in the performance of assigned work, such as Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS.
  • Review patient chart for exam referral/orders within the exam notes, appointment notes or referral request
  • Record the patient’s history and any pertinent information regarding their examination
  • Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, and equipment adjustment
  • Apply independent judgment during the examination to ensure that all appropriate anatomical structures are accurately captured in the images
  • Verify that all images, exam notes and required documents have successfully transmitted to PACS in a timely and accurate manner
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
  • Report incomplete or incorrect examination to ensure proper patient charge and continuity of patient care
  • Continuously monitor work to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrate courteous, friendly, and professional behavior to patient, referring physicians and co-workers at all times
  • Keep the work area neat and orderly
  • Maintain and rotate inventory of supplies in exam rooms and notifies supervisor if there is a shortage
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Education/Experience:

One to two years of experience working in a breast center or clinical environment. Proficient knowledge of breast imaging and mammography tracking is preferred. Requires current CPR and AED certification.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to effectively communicate and provide detailed instructions to patients about appropriate breast positioning for exam
  • Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all clinical personnel and patients, and to establish effective working relationships
  • Ability to act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results
  • Ability to assess and identify needs and develop creative strategies
  • Highly motivated with great organizational skills
  • Demonstrates appropriate customer service attitudes and services in a variety of work settings
  • Must be skilled in written and verbal communications, requiring the ability to read and write effectively and efficiently

Working conditions:
Moderate amount of kneeling, reaching, and stooping. Constant amount of walking, standing, and sitting. Ability to assist patients, up to 650 pounds, from sitting, standing, and lying positions with the use of proper lifting methods (i.e., assistance of other personnel, use of provided lifting devices such as Hoyer lift, etc.). May be exposed to negligible electromagnetic radiation. Must have the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
