This role sits within a second-line risk and control function, where you will play a key part in strengthening enterprise risk management across a dynamic insurance environment. You will act as a trusted advisor to business units, helping identify, assess, and mitigate operational and emerging risks while reinforcing a strong risk culture. The position combines analytical depth with strategic influence, offering the opportunity to shape frameworks, improve control effectiveness, and support governance decision-making. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple lines of defense, translating complex risk data into actionable insights. - Lead and support enterprise risk assessments by identifying, analyzing, and documenting operational risks, control gaps, and emerging trends.
- Contribute to the enhancement of enterprise risk and resilience frameworks and related governance programs.
- Design and execute control testing, key risk indicator monitoring, and issue/incident management processes to evaluate control effectiveness.
- Leverage data analytics to detect risk trends, anomalies, and opportunities for continuous control improvement.
- Oversee issues, incidents, losses, and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and timely remediation actions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory expectations, and industry standards (e.g., OSFI, SOX, IFRS 17, Solvency II).
- Support audit activities by coordinating evidence, reporting, and stakeholder engagement across internal and external reviews.
- Deliver clear and insightful risk reporting to governance committees and senior leadership.
- Act as a trusted advisor across lines of defense, promoting a strong and proactive risk culture.
- Strong experience in operational risk management, control testing, or enterprise risk functions within a regulated environment.
- Proven ability to design and operationalize risk and control frameworks and second-line assurance programs.
- Solid analytical skills with experience in data-driven risk analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of risk methodologies, control testing practices, and issue management processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as OSFI, SOX, IFRS 17, or Solvency II is highly valued.
- Ability to translate complex risk data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Degree in finance, business, risk management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Competitive annual salary range: $73,500 – $116,850 (based on experience and skills).
