About This Position
Description:
Job Purpose
The Safety & Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining safety records related to the transportation industry, following guidelines established by the FMCSA, DOT, various state offices, and the company. This position will be in charge of reviewing and evaluating driver safety data to control, eliminate, and prevent any non-compliance, incidents, accidents, or injuries. This position will participate in re-education and training and enforce laws and regulations governing the safety of drivers and other employees.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain current driver log management functions, including reports and filing according to FMCSA standards, and communicate with Beyond the Borders staff/dispatch/drivers for any necessary corrections.
- Audit driver logs/ELDs and apply discipline if needed.
- Assist with safety orientation for new hires for Beyond the Borders drivers and employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company standards.
- Assist in processing driver applications, maintaining driver qualification files, and training drivers on various procedures.
- Maintain dispatch and safety data in McLeod, AS400, ELDs (Omnitracs and Issac), and other network systems.
- Provide management with requested information by extracting relevant data from reports.
- Assist with processing citations, accidents, and injuries.
- Support management in preparing safety policies and procedures and assist in their implementation.
- Create, set up, and update training and regulatory files for Beyond the Borders employees and DOT drivers.
- Assist corporate Safety & Compliance Managers and Assistant Managers with all documentation related to company safety programs.
- Coordinate drug and alcohol testing for driver applicants and existing drivers.
- Participate in the annual driver violation review process.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years commercial driving experience.
