Overview
The Human Resources Business Partner will work closely with assigned business units to provide effective HR support in areas such as recruiting and staffing, employee relations, performance management, training, and compensation. By building strong partnerships with the teams they support, the HR Business Partner will serve as a trusted advisor and deliver high-quality, consistent HR solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS [Essential functions are defined by the ADA as the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Recruitment and Staffing:
• Determine appropriate recruitment and advertising strategies to source qualified candidates.
• Source candidates via appropriate means such as ATS, job fairs, social media, and resume databases.
• Screen resumes, schedule and conduct phone and on-site interviews, and make recommendations to managers on the most qualified candidates.
• Administer pre-employment reference checks, background checks, and drug screens.
• Coordinate the offer and onboarding processes.
• Engage in regular collaborative communication with hiring managers on open requisitions.
• Ensure compliance with Affirmative Action and EEO regulations.
Employee Relations/Performance Management:
• Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs, and provide guidance and interpretation.
• Identify and plan internal talent development strategies.
• Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations as needed.
• Facilitate progressive discipline process, including verbal and written warnings, corrective actions, suspensions, and terminations.
• Identify and facilitate individual coaching needs by developing effective working relationships across the organization.
• Oversee the non-exempt and exempt performance review and succession planning processes, offering consultation as needed.
• Conduct exit interviews, identify concerns or risks, and make recommendations to management as appropriate.
• Maintain HR records, ensuring compliance with all federal and state requirements.
• Generate and lead change initiatives with a positive, enthusiastic approach. Influence others to adopt change.
Compensation Management:
• Maintain knowledge of salary and bonus structures to offer recommendations to management for new hires, internal transfers, and promotions.
• Analyze compensation trends and facilitate the annual increase process.
• Maintain the compensation structure, including salary grades and ranges.
Administrative:
• Develop and update HR-related policies, procedures, guidelines, programs, and forms in accordance with state and federal laws.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Develop and maintain various reports and metrics relative to HR-related activities. Create ad hoc reports and queries as needed.
• Support internal/external audits.
• Plan and attend department functions (i.e., Spacesaver social/recreational activities and events, company meetings, retirement parties, Information Exchange Sessions, Connection Meetings. etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field OR
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources or related field and minimum 2 years professional-level recruitment experience
• SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Average to above-average knowledge of federal and state employment law
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Average to above average ability to read, analyze, and interpret business data, government regulations, and case law.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to build positive and effective working relationships with partnered areas.
• Strong technical aptitude with proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
• Strong ability to communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization effectively and professionally.
• Ability to build & maintain business knowledge to better partner with management.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Work and assignments are self-guided with minimal interventions
